Image to Text (OCR) online, free
Extract printed text from JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF or TIFF images into a plain TXT file. The scan is straightened and converted to grayscale before OCR; text recognition works best with sharp, well-lit print. Use it in your phone browser without installing an app.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a photo of text into editable text?
Yes. Upload a clear photo or scan and download recognized text as a TXT file. Check the result for OCR errors before using it.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, HEIF and TIFF, up to 20 images per job (subject to your plan's batch limit).
Does OCR preserve columns and formatting?
The output is plain text, so fonts, images and exact page layout are not retained. The preserve-spacing option can keep inter-word spacing where recognized.
Does it recognize handwriting?
It is intended for printed text. Handwriting and blurry, skewed or low-contrast photos may give inaccurate results.
Which languages are available?
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
Can I take a picture on my phone?
You can upload a picture from your phone's camera or photo library in the browser; no separate app is needed.
What are the limits and retention policy?
Per-file limits are 25 MB for guests, 50 MB for free accounts and 500 MB for Premium. Files are automatically deleted after 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days respectively.
